The recent upsurge in the practice of laparoscopic surgery and other forms of 'minimal access surgery' has ushered in a new era of surgical treatment which is having profound effects on surgical management across the various specialities. Although the new approach has been initiated by adult general surgeons and gynaecologists, there is increasing interest in laparoscopic/keyhole procedures in other specialities, such as paediatric surgery, urology, orthopaedic surgery, otorhinolaryngology, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery and plastic surgery.
Dr. Baiju Senadhipan has focused his practice on procedures conducted using keyhole or laparoscopic surgery for the past few decades. This website is a showcase of thousands of surgical procedures completed successfully by Dr. Baiju Senadhipan, an eminent keyhole surgeon from Kerala, India. He has undergone intensive training in the field of laparoscopic surgery to perfect his skills for his patients worldwide. Dr. Baiju has extensive experience in manipulating complex imported instruments while handling delicate tissues and organs. Laparoscopic surgery or Keyhole surgery also referred to as minimally invasive surgery describes the performance of surgical procedures with the assistance of a video camera and several thin instruments. During the surgical procedure, small incisions of up to half an inch are made and plastic tubes called ports are placed through these incisions. The camera and the instruments are then introduced through the ports which allow access to the inside of the patient. The camera transmits an image of the organs inside the abdomen on to a television monitor. The video camera becomes a surgeon’s eyes in laparoscopy surgery, since the surgeon uses the image from the video camera positioned inside the patient’s body to perform the procedure.
